There's a good chance that you’ve heard of the term Chi or Chi Energy (as in Cheese ~ & Not meaning your Chi Latte) before …& whether or not you have, it is actually subject matter of central & vital importance to many people of the world .
(Click "Read More" below to continue)...
Dating all the way back to early human existence the concept of a life force / universal energy has been thought to being a factor of existence.
Chi is known as the vital life force & universal energy that flows through every living thing including humans and the universe itself. It is thought to connect everything living as well as living things with the universe. It is foundational in places in the world such as China where its concept dates back thousands of years as well as many other parts of Asia & South America for starters . Into modern day the existence and power of chi energy is especially important in many parts of the world along with many practitioners of particular persuasions attempting to cultivate it. In the areas of Eastern & Holistic Healing Arts & Medicine (such as acupuncture, acupressure, reiki & massage) , Qigong, Martial Arts (especially tai chi & aikido), Yoga, Feng Shui and Eastern Belief Systems / Religions such as Taoism, Buddhism, Shintoism & Confucianism, Chi Energy is a central foundational factor. Chi also known as Qi (China), Ki (Japan) or Prana (India) amongst other identifying names, is known as the vital life energy and force that runs through us, as living beings, as well as everything around us and connecting us to the universe. So chi is within us and in everything that surrounds us. It is also ours to further cultivate & connect with if we so choose. The concept of mind, body & spirit is basically founded on the concept of chi energy connecting the body & mind within a being... and to further elaborate, then connecting of the being with the environment and universe which are all consisting of chi life force energy.
As there are many legendary stories of chi energy being utilized in events of miraculous healing & superhuman abilities by individuals who have mastered it, there is reason that many seek to cultivate it.
Masters of it such as Chinese healing practitioners, qigong & martial artists, monks of different persuasions as well as practitioners of breathwork have been known to cultivate it to the point of superpower. Even if not seeking healing miracles or superpowers, there may be very good reason to attempt cultivating a bit more of it in your everyday life . If things such as improving overall wellness, managing stress & anxiety and clearing negative energy in your life sound like things you’d be interested in discovering more about, chi energy may be something you’d like a bit of info on. This is because when chi is able to flow freely throughout your body and also in your environment, it is a positive factor that can potentially result in better physical and emotional health & wellness and even in areas of your luck and regarding manifesting the life you envision … As developing your chi energy may indeed have the potential of being helpful in many areas of your life . At the same time, if chi is blocked in your body or environment it can potentially result in hindering healing in your body, or things in your environment or daily life just seeming off. In the human body, chi flows through meridians which are energy pathways / channels thru which chi flows. The fluid flow of chi through meridians is imperative to wellness, health and balance. This is incidentally the foundation of many therapies / healing arts such as acupuncture & acupressure which through stimulating points on meridians blocked chi or energy can be freed up. In practices of chi such as Traditional Chinese Medicine the healthy flow of chi through the body is considered to be a primary indicator of overall health and wellness.
In addition to the factor that chi runs thru your body (as well as your environment) and can be blocked from flowing freely, chi has a duel quality & nature and must always be in balance.
This is the foundation of yin & yang, which also exists within a being as well as in our surroundings, environment & universe . The principle of yin & yang is the balance of chi energy between two opposite elements & when these elements are out of sync or balance, issues including ones with health, wellness and otherwise can potentially occur. Yin is generally passive while yang is active. Chi is the source of yin & yang energy and balance in the body and is the sum of the combined total . Additionally, The main “Dantein” (center of chi energy in the body) called your "Hara" (Japanese) is an area in the lower abdomen below the belly button that is almost like a cauldron that holds you chi/ vital energy and is an enormous point of focus in chi intensifying practices. Your Hara can be extremely powerful when developed. Again, through practices such as meditation, breathwork, movement practices such as qigong, martial arts, yoga and holistic healing arts such as Reiki. Through chi energy practices you can capture, concentrate & intensify vital energy to your Hara, This energy can be cultivated & absorbed to your body & Hara through the energy of nature & the universe . Masters of chi energy can potentially summons the chi concentrated in their Hara & utilize it in a controlled manner .
So to basically summarize ...
In the human body chi circulates through meridians which are energy channels / centers/ pathways in the body thru which energy (chi) flows. The fluid flow of chi through meridians is imperative to wellness, health & balance. When the flow of chi is disturbed it can lead to issues with wellness be it physical, emotional or otherwise . Yin & Yang must be in balance in order for energy to flow freely & evenly . The body has amazing natural healing powers but when chi is blocked or out of balance these powers will likely be blocked or hindered. Chi can also be blocked (outside of your body) in your environment, and when it is freed up it can result in a more tranquil, calm & peaceful space and environment along with a feeling of alignment in contrast to things feeling “off”. Practices such as Feng Shui promote the fluid & harmonious movement of chi energy through your environment . Although it's something that we don’t often think about in the Western world , when chi is unblocked, its freed up flow and positive effects can potentially result in overall wellbeing.
To detail a bit further, below are a few things that can affect your Chi Energy ...

By whatever means or practice chosen, the unblocking & cultivation of chi energy is generally a practice that also literally forces you to be mindful & in the present moment (as i’ve previously written a bit about HERE) … there are many potential benefits to practicing mindfulness alone .
Practitioners aiming to cultivate chi (as well as mindfulness) typically do this through various methods as mentioned above and being out in nature where energy is balanced and powerful is also a preferred place to cultivate it. Chi is Life Force Energy ~When we take steps to cultivate & nourish it, it may lead to things such as calm, balance, happiness, wellness, lightness, mindfulness, wisdom, strength, peace & liberation .
